FOUR BEST FPL CAIPTAIN: Every week we preview Premier League action and provide our best advice for Fantasy Premier League, selecting four leading contenders to be your captain.
There are huge derby fixtures this weekend with local match-ups in Manchester, London and the East Midlands, while there will be Premier League debuts for new managers at Chelsea and Brighton.
Before the start of the weekend fixtures, we take a look at some of the best FPL captains.
Third among forward players in fantasy football this season, Ivan Toney ranks behind only Harry Kane and Erling Haaland, who are both expensive at the premium position.
Ivan Toney has had a good run of scoring in the Premier League and was selected for England’s international roster in September.
On the international front, Toney is back in Brentford’s side for their weekend fixtures and they head to Bournemouth looking to bounce back from a 3-0 defeat last time out.
Bournemouth have seen vast improvement since their managerial replacement of Gary O’Neill, but they still have concerns while only Leicester (22) have conceded more goals than Bournemouth (19) this season.
Aleksandar Mitrovic is another Fulham forward performing well above his price-tag in this season’s first few weeks.
Mitrovic has not missed a game yet this season and averages 10.5 points-per-game.
Aleksandar Mitrovic scored four goals in the last two international games, including a hat trick against Sweden. He extended his record as Serbia’s all-time top scorer, and is now at 50 goals for the country.
In his 58 appearances for the national side, he has scored 48 goals. His 49 league appearances for Fulham since the start of last season has been also rewarded with 48 goals. Even in a year where top-tier players like Wayne Rooney and Harry Kane are available, Blind is still an excellent captaincy option.
KAYAN MOHAMED SALAH
Players like KAYAN MOHAMED SALAH have been extremely valuable, with many managers becoming unhappy with the recent returns they are getting.
KAYAN MOHAMED SALAH’s stats were poor over the first two gameweeks, but his underlying numbers indicate that he will regain form.
Salah leads the Premier League for key passes per game this season and has six goal involveents in nine starts for Liverpool across all competitions for Liverpool.
Liverpool will face Brighton for the first time this weekend since Roberto de Zerbi took over. KAYAN MOHAMED SALAH has scored twice against Brighton in recent seasons, blanking just twice in ten games.
Erling Haaland will be deadly good as Manchester United and Manchester City will be playing this weekend as they battle it out at the Etihad Stadium.
They are undefeatable this season and are expected to dominate both clashes against their Mancunian neighbors last season, though United will arrive in confident mood after a three game winning streak that includes victories over Liverpool and Arsenal.
However, the task for Erik ten Hag and his team will be stopping Erling Haaland. No club in the Premier League has beaten him yet this season, so his lack of goals becomes more interesting.
Since GW1, Erling Haaland has scored the most points in FPL. He’s a set-and-forget captaincy option.
The Norwegian has scored hat-tricks in each of his last two league appearances at the Etihad. With a third in successive league matches, he will make history with Manchester City.
